Hamadryad Lake by jasminetoad Hamadryad Lake by jasminetoad
Hamadryad is a name for a type of tree nymph / wood spirit. They are creatures deeply tied to their individual trees. I've painted one such nymph - branches growing from and into her hair - in a rather animated tree (several green man style faces in there) in a mystical forest glade, next to a beautiful shimmering lake. Based off of a creek in Shawnee Mission Park, Kansas (good luck finding the nymph there!). (Pssst....PLEASE NOTE - in case you were worried, lol, there is no actual nudity in this painting!) My own original acrylic painting. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith - prints are available at [link] and [link]*

I for one am glad that water nymphs apparently have perfectly plucked eyebrows and the most fashionable and trendy makeup. Very natural.

Ha, you're absolutely welcome! When did you start using paints? Did you start out drawing with pencil and paper?
