Boschcircus by jasminetoad
A piece I created for the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, CA. A circular painting with a circus theme - called "Bosch Circus" for the group show called "Freaks & Americana". This piece is inspired by the circus history in my own family (a troupe of aerialists from early last century known as the Flying Behees ) and of course some phantasmagorical animals and performers inspired by Hieronymus Bosch (from considerably earlier). I had so much fun with all the little animals & figures in this piece!

Stilleven VIII: Lieveheersbeestje by jasminetoad
Stilleven VIII: Lieveheersbeestje
"Stilleven VII: Lieveheersbeestje" - the eighth in a series of works I have in my Stilleven series that feature "deconstructed" elements of still lifes inspired by the Dutch master painters of the 1500-1600s, along with lovely girls, faeries & nymphs (of course!). Stilleven is Dutch for "Still Life" and "Lieveheersbeestje" means "ladybug". A lot of beautiful leaves & fruit in thise one - all popular elements included in famous Dutch still lifes. This is my own original acrylic painting, hand painted on panel, the original debuted and SOLD at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery, we do have prints & canvases available however at

A Wistful Moment by jasminetoad
A Wistful Moment

Most of the time, I work in acrylic paints exclusively.  Sometimes though I like to do pieces as PASTEL paintings, like this one I did in my London studio for my show at Pop Gallery at Disney World.   Here is "A Wistful Moment" - a classically inspired study piece with a touch of Greek sculpture & Bouguereau about her.  Pastels on panel. My original acrylic painting. Prints available at*  and

Brother and Sister by jasminetoad
Brother and Sister

"Brother and Sister" is an illustration for my Fairytale Oracle deck (with author Lucy Cavendish) due out in 2015.  It's a very strange fairytale (definitely look it up!) - revolving around a girl whose little brother has been transformed into a deer.  I painted this piece also for my "Miniature Marvels" show at Pop Gallery at Downtown Disney / Disney Springs here in Florida - the original painting itself was sold at the show, but we have prints, canvases & merchandise available. My original acrylic painting. Sanura by jasminetoad

"Sanura" - an Egyptian princess - an illustration for a short story written by Kachina Mickeletto that will be appearing in my upcoming art book (a sequel to Strangeling - my first book ) - the followup will be published next year by Blue Angel.  Sanura is a grumpy Egyptian princess, shown here with an Egyptian Mau cat (modeled after my own cat Tigrillo, who looks like a plump little mau).  Aesthetically I've tried to evoke the imagery of the Egyptian Revival movement of Victorian England and academic France and the romanticized settings of Alma-Tadema, Gerome, etc.  combined with one of my own contemporary pop surreal big eyed girls.  I really love how it turned out.  Keep an eye out for the book!  My own original acrylic painting. My original acrylic painting. You are one of my favorite modern day artists, and I have two of your figurines. They're so adorable.
I ABOSULTELY LOVE your Maleficent painting. She has been my favorite Disney villain from the very first time I watched Sleeping Beauty, when I was maybe five years old. It's about time she has stepped into the limelight, I've been able to collect more Mal merchandise in the past few months than I have in years! And I really do like how the live action movie was portrayed.
Just want to let you know I'm an adoring fan.
